MACC – Membership and Benefits 

There are TWO types of membership with MACC namely:

- Ordinary Membership

- "Provisional" Membership

A. Ordinary Membership

All persons suffering from Crohn’s disease or Ulceratve Colitis over the age of eighteen (18) are eligible to become members of the Association with full voting rights. Persons sharing the interests and aims of the Association and those of persons suffering from Crohn’s or Colitis are also eligible to become Members of the Association. To become a member, one can download and print a copy of the MACC Membership Application Form 2023 by clicking here.

B. "Provisional" Membership (for minors)

As per Article 6.2 of the Statute of MACC (click here to see statute of MACC), minors under the age of 18 years suffering from Crohn’s disease or Ulcerative Colitis are eligible to become "provisional" members of the Association with their voting rights delegated to one parent or legal guardian. To become a Provisional Member, a parent or legal guardian can download and print a copy of the same MACC Membership Application Form 2023 by clicking here but then the Parent of IBD Patient checkbox has to be selected. 

For both kinds of membership, the completed application form together with the lifetime subscription fee of €25 should be passed on to either a member of the Executive Committee of MACC, or else returned by post to:

In a short time, the applicant will receive a payment receipt by post and a letter describing a unique USERNAME and PASSWORD for use in the members’ area section of this website (‘Downloads’ section)

It should be noted that all details provided in the application forms will be entered in our database and any information given to us will be treated as highly confidential as described in the membership application form and according to GDPR. The personal data of members or members’ representatives (including name, telephone number, e-mail address and other membership details) are held by the officials of the Association for account and order administration, internal marketing, to facilitate better communication and subject to the provisions of the Data Protection Act (2001) and any other applicable law, in particular the GDPR (2018).

Benefits of membership of MACC include:

- Being part of an association that represents your interests on a national level and in European fora;

 

- Receiving regular notifications by email regarding upcoming MACC activities besides news on new treatments, medications, trials, etc on Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's disease;

 

- Having Password Access to restricted parts (‘Downloads’ section) of this website;

 

- Free (or reduced rate) attendance to conferences or seminars when an attendance fee would be required;

 

- Educational meetings with a speaker or panel of 'experts';

 

- Question and answer sessions;

- Empowering members to take an active role within the Association and in Maltese society;

 

- Voting rights in MACC annual general meeting.

For the future, we are considering the introduction of the following possible benefits:

 

- The free provision of printed resources about Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's Disease;

 

- Self-help or support group meetings.
